It is possible for a narcissist to change their ways, but it is not common. Narcissistic personality disorder is a deeply ingrained and often lifelong pattern of behavior that is characterized by a lack of empathy, an intense need for admiration, and a sense of entitlement. As a result, many narcissists are resistant to the idea that they need to change, and may not see anything wrong with their behavior.
However, with the right kind of support and therapy, some narcissists can learn to recognize and modify their harmful behaviors. This typically requires a long-term commitment to therapy and a willingness to take responsibility for their actions.
It’s worth noting that change is never guaranteed, and it’s important for victims of narcissistic abuse to prioritize their own healing and safety, rather than waiting for their abuser to change.
Even if a narcissist does make progress in therapy, it may not be safe or healthy to continue a relationship with them.
